One important thing that makes man different from other animals is his self-consciousness.  Because of his intellect and will man has the capacity to know himself, to look at himself. Man is capable of reflection. Though a subject in himself, he is capable of looking at himself as an object.  Hence, he is able to know himself, able to know others and most importantly he is able to relate with others.  That is why aside from being defined as a rational being, man can also be defined as a relational being, a social being. One thing good of being a Catholic is that Catholicism is not merely an ideology, a morality, a religion or philosophy but rather it is about relationship. It is a relationship with a Person. It is a relationship with God! It is relationship with Jesus Christ! It is not simply a story collected from the Old Testament to the New Testament. But it is a love story. Personally, it is for me the greatest love story ever told! Unlike some love stories that are unreal, this love story  is true to life. What makes it the greatest is that I am involved in the story. Beautiful… one of my favorite words found in the English dictionary. It is simple and yet once heard it gives joy.  When seen it gives delight to the person who sees. Love… it is something that all men desire, for it brings them happiness.  Man desires to have it.  But does man truly know what it is?  Man searches for love in different places.  Others search it in work, some in people, some in wealth, some in success and in every other place that man can think of.  They would even search love in things.  But these things are not love because it could not bring them happiness!  It may satisfy them but it does not give them total satisfaction.  It does not satiate their want for love but only makes them to desire more.
